Djenné Papyrus Description
Djenné Papyrus is an EPUB renderer & Reader. It stands as testament to the evolution of our bespoke implemention of the EPUB standard. It supports text, images and styling. This is an EPUB 2/3 reference implementation research project work in progress, particularly suited to authors/publishers who are serious about creating correct and conformant EPUB documents.Our intent at Djenné is to realise the implementations of the comprehensive standards that are EPUB 2/3. Our intent is not to produce a commercial application but it is to produce functionally correct implementations of EPUB 2/3 that can then be used as the basis for commercial applications. We believe the current commercial rendering engines in the market do not implement the specs and we intend to correct this shortcoming in the publishing industry.
What's new in Djenné Papyrus Oprah
*New version (Oprah), Djenné opens valid reflowable EPUB 3 documents (no support yet for fixed-layout documents).*Backwards compatible with EPUB 2.
*Improved page-cutting algorithm.
*Work began on a custom SVG engine (Kelendria), a CSS viewport and support for full EPUB 3 metadata and fixed-layout documents (look out for these additions in the next versions).
*Djenné is now a totally native eReader app requiring no support from Webkit for rendering HTML, SVG or CSS.
